A serious industrial fire near Trikala has left four women dead, drawing national attention and prompting an ongoing investigation by Greek authorities.
The blaze broke out in the early morning hours at a facility operated by Violanta. At the time, 13 workers were on site during the overnight shift. Eight managed to escape, while emergency crews later recovered four victims from inside the building. One worker was initially reported missing as search efforts continued.
The Hellenic Fire Service deployed around 40 firefighters and multiple vehicles to battle the flames, which spread through parts of the factory and caused significant structural damage. Several افراد, including a firefighter, were taken to hospital for treatment.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire, though early reports suggested a possible explosion. Investigations remain ongoing, with officials focusing on site safety, determining the origin of the incident, and supporting the affected families.
