Chilling air traffic control audio has revealed moments of panic before an Air Canada crash at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
In the recording, a controller can be heard urgently shouting “stop, stop, stop” as a fire truck crossed the runway while an Air Canada Express plane was landing.
The aircraft struck the vehicle, killing both pilots and injuring several passengers. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the airport was temporarily shut down.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the runway safety failure happened.
